User Reviews about Chicco Liteway Stroller - Fuego

As I read other reviews for this product, I noticed that a fair number of people mentioned that you have to take the canopy off each time you want to fold it up because it gets in the way of the clip. However, let me set the record straight right off the bat: THIS IS NOT TRUE! If you clip the canopy ABOVE the bolt on the support beam (you'll understand what I'm talking about if you get one), the problem is solved and it folds just fine. At first you might think it's a tight fit, but that's normal. In fact, you want the tight fit. It's good. That's how the stroller was designed to be put together. Problem solved. And there was much rejoicing (yay).

However, it is lame that you cannot find this stroller anywhere in a store (at least not within 100 miles of where I live). The only Chicco umbrella stroller I could find in stores was the Capri, which is terrible. There are two main differences between the Liteway and the Capri: canopy hinge and support beam over the back wheel.

The canopy hinge on the Liteway is waaaaay better than the one on the Capri because the one on the Liteway clicks into each position firmly (there are 4-5 positions), instead of requiring you to tighten the pressure hinge on the Capri, which has only two positions: open and closed. I tried the hinge of the Capri in the store and instantly disliked it. The hinge on the Liteway is infinitely easier and more reliable.

The support bar on the Liteway is waaaaay stronger than the one on the Capri. It is noticeably thicker, and really adds a sense of stability to the stroller. The support bar on the Capri feels like it would bend and buckle in a slight breeze. I had no faith in its ability to handle any kind of terrain other than the flat surface of the store's floor. The Liteway, however, I'd be comfortable taking anywhere.

Other minor differences that make the Liteway a much better choice include cushioning, ability to adjust the height of the straps, adjustable reclining back, and cup holder. So if you're looking for an umbrella stroller and not one of the travel systems, I'd highly recommend the Liteway. It is as heavy as everyone says (~19 lbs), but other than that, it's perfect. -- 96.7% perfect
I was looking for a stroller that was lightweight and compact but also folded down flat for my infant. The Liteway fit my needs. It does not take up much room in my trunk and it is so light that it seemed flimsy in the beginning. After using it for a week it has proven to be very sturdy and easy to maneuver. I did have some problems with the release mechanism. It is easy to do but it is not intuitive so took some getting used to. I also found that I had to add some extra blankets under and around my infant when it is cold outside because the cloth structure is very breathable. I expect this will be great for us in the hot GA summer. Overall I feel like I got exactly what I wanted and I love the cup holder! -- A lightweight stroller for an infant.
This is a good stroller ..great for changing diapers in I wont use the public changers so its very easy in this but if your a heavy shopper its not good for alot of bags it tips easily if you have more than 3 bags that are heavy so I cant take it to the mall or the outlets unless my husband is along to run to the car to drop off bags and the basket doesnt really hold a thing other wise I use my Graco qauttro tour stroller because that fine for shopping it has a big basket and doesnt tip to weight but I mainly bought the chicco stroller for my mom to use when she watches him she doesnt really do alot of shopping alone anyways the graco I have is way to heavy for her to lift and she only has a saturn vue and the graco took up the whole back and the chicco takes up little room and can also fit on the back seat floor if she needed to. But the chicco is great for one handed steering light weight great for walks its narrow so you can fit it through small stores like gymboree carters etc.
-- good stroller
I am a Dad, so my priorities for this stroller were pretty simple:

1) Good solid build quality
2) Walk with it and not have my feet kick the wheels (I am only 5' 10", but for some reason I manage kick the wheels of every stroller when walking)
3) Functional sun shade
4) Easy to fold
5) A place to put my drink and small items I pick up at home depot.

This stroller meets all of these criteria. Built quality is as good, if not better than some of the McClaren stuff we saw while on vacation recently. It folds quickly and easily (although it would be nice if it were a bit smaller when it folds) and has a carry handle. The sun shade works perfectly fine for out 18 month old. It is easy to strap her into the seat, and she has plenty of room.

Overall a great design for the money.

Oh and it does not tip over with a diaper bag on the back handles, unless you load said diaper bag with 20 pounds of junk. -- Great Quality for the Price
Weight: I don't know the exact weight of the stroller, but I barely weight 100 pounds, I'm not very strong, and I can take this in and out of the trunk of my car easily. There is a handle on the side of the frame that is easily accessible when it is folded up in case you needed to carry it any distance. You could also roll it while it was folded up if you needed to drag it a long ways before unfolding it for some reason. One thing to remember: This is NOT an umbrella stroller. It is going to weigh more than a $20 umbrella stroller that really has no features. This stroller is built to act as a primary stroller and is built to last.

Storage: This stroller is a BREEZE to fold and unfold. And it gets very small considering how well built and sturdy it is. I keep this in the trunk of my 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue at ALL times. It is where it is stored. We routinely pack our car for long trips and this fits in our trunk with our luggage, play pen, and whatever else we need to shove back there. I really appreciate how small it folds up and how easy I can get it out of my trunk.

Usability: This is the only stroller my son has ever been in. I had him in there when he was just a couple weeks old and I felt totally comfortable with him being safe. The seat lays completely flat. There is also a rain/wind barrier piece that buttons up the front about six inches which closes him in the seat even more. My son has also fallen asleep in the stroller plenty of times when I needed a make-shift crib for an hour or so when I'm out and about.

Steering: I can TOTALLY steer this stroller with one hand. I think it is the angle of the handles that makes this so easy to do. The height of the handles cannot be adjusted. I am about 5'8". Husband is about 5'11" and neither of us have any problems pushing it. It is also nice to be able to walk through a department store and look around instead of being confined to the aisles because of a stroller that is too wide. This stroller is narrow enough to take just about anywhere you want.

PLEASE do yourself a favor and purchase this stroller over the ever so popular "SUV" stroller. Those are heavy and big and bulky. If you don't need one, don't buy one. If you do need one, consider the Chicco Cortina. After my countless days of researching it was between the Liteway and the Cortina (I was researching every stroller I could find, not just Chicco.) I can't imagine anyone regretting or feeling like they wasted their money on this product. -- Best All Around Stroller!
